Lyft Chief of Staff to the Chief People Officer in San Francisco, California

The Chief of Staff (CoS) role reports directly to the Chief People Officer (CPO) and is a critical partner to the CPO and the People Leadership Team (PLT). The CoS will also partner closely with CoS to the CEO and the broader CoS community at Lyft.

Responsibilities:

  • Optimize and lead PLT operating rhythms, such as weekly PLT meetings, weekly content reviews, quarterly business reviews, quarterly all-hands meetings, and bi-annual team on-sites. Prepare agendas and drive execution of action items.

  • Lead the annual planning process for the People function and ensure appropriate resourcing.

  • In close partnership with Finance and PLT, manage the People team budget.

  • Own the change management of large scale initiatives and programs, ensuring the right audiences receive the right information at the right time.

  • Drive communication of priorities, activities, and results to the People organization. Maintain a strong pulse on sentiment and create feedback loops.

  • Lead timely retrospectives, engaging stakeholders as appropriate, to constantly iterate and improve our processes.

  • Use cross-functional knowledge and seek to understand issues, trends, and perspectives that may influence the business. Connect the dots for key stakeholders to drive increased alignment.

  • Build bridges and serve as a trusted advisor to the CPO, PLT, broader People organization and to the Lyft Chief of Staff community.

  • Identify and take on ad hoc strategic projects.

Experience:

  • 10+ Years experience in a combination of human resources, program management, consulting, or an equivalent field.

  • The ideal candidate has both hands-on experience and a tenured leadership foundation in the following areas: project management, planning, organizational change, consulting, communications & strategy execution.

  • Proven track record of being able to dive into any area of the business or product, understand business needs, and facilitate executive decisions.

  • The ideal candidate must exemplify conscientiousness, curiosity, authenticity and humility.

  • Experience in managing resourcing/staffing, and having worked directly with the C-suite on a regular basis.

  • Ability to track, prioritize, and drive multiple concurrent projects to success. This position is expected to utilize data and metrics to communicate needs with the PLT.

  • Excellent communicator in written and verbal form; ability to work well with executives, and able to lead and influence across multiple levels and multiple functions of an organization.

  • Entrepreneurial, with a high tolerance for ambiguity and complexity, and efficient with limited resources.

  • A good sounding board for others, with low ego, and ability to anticipate the needs of a busy executive and their leadership team.

  • Highest level of integrity and management of confidential information.

  • Strong emotional intelligence – someone who can read people, understand their motivation and background, understand what their needs/wants and the ability to play to different audiences.

This role will be in the San Francisco office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the San Francisco office 3 days per week on Mondays, Thursdays and a team-specific third day. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year.

The expected range of base pay for this position in the San Francisco Bay area is $184,000- $230,000. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
