Lyft Accounting Manager in Longueuil, Canada

Lyft is looking to hire a qualified and experienced Accounting Manager to join its Controllership team. This role encompasses day to day controllership duties, as well as involvement in project based initiatives to scale the operational side of these accounting processes. The candidate should expect to leverage current skill sets, while also focusing on learning quickly and adding value to the current processes in a fast paced, public company environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the revenue cycle, including supporting the collectibles process, managing the deferred revenues schedule, and ensuring compliance with revenue recognition policies

  • Manage and maintain the relationship with the EDC process, ensuring its smooth operation and ongoing upkeep

  • Manage and maintain relationships with joint ventures, as well as prepare the quarterly entries related to these partnerships

  • Manage relationship with tax business partners

  • Assist in reviewing portions of the balance sheet and income statement, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations and flux analyses

  • Assist in the review of monthly financial statements and chart of accounts mapping process; prepare monthly trial balance upload journal entry

  • Assist the consolidations team with review of intercompany journal entries and balances

  • Responsible for planning and executing the accounting processes in accordance with the monthly close calendar timelines

  • Work cross functionally with Finance and other business partners to gather information and advise on accounting considerations

  • Coordinate with cross-functional partners to operationalize new areas of the business to facilitate streamlined accounting transactions

  • Support the reporting process by gathering financial and other data for footnote disclosures in SEC documents

  • Develop and implement scalable accounting processes to facilitate timely and accurate financial reporting

  • Assist in documentation/implementation of internal controls and ensure SOX compliance in areas of responsibility

  • Proactively identify issues and areas for improvement while helping to establish and maintain policies and procedures

  • Assist in managing external audit of Lyft Inc., including preparation/review of audit requests and ongoing support

  • Actively participate and collaborate on system implementations and integration activities

  • Prepare government reports as required

  • Assist with the budgeting and forecasting process as requested

  • Perform special, ad-hoc tasks/projects in Accounting/Finance as requested

Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance required, CPA preferred

  • 5+ years of Accounting experience, including Big 4 and manufacturing company experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of ASC 606, Revenue Recognition principles

  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently with minimal daily direction from management to accomplish objectives and deadlines

  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills are a must

  • Accounting research and problem solving skills required

  • Must be detail oriented and able to multitask

  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills

  • Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks that adhere to strict deadlines in a fast-paced, changing environment

  • Bilingual (English and French); Ability to communicate effectively in English for dealing with English-speaking colleagues outside Quebec

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Thursdays and a team-specific third day. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year. #Hybrid
